About Me

Reproductive life transitions—particularly the perinatal period—are marked by profound vulnerability, shaped by the intricate interplay of biological, psychological, and social change. These experiences can reverberate across your mental health, relationships, and sense of self, often within the context of systemic inequities and cultural expectations. As a Filipinx parent of three in an interracial, blended, and multigenerational family—with a foundation in birthwork—I hold deep respect for the layered realities this season can carry.

In my practice, I work from a reproductive justice framework, integrating anti-oppressive, culturally responsive care to support both individuals and relationships. I draw from non-pathologizing, mind-body based, and collectivist approaches to meet you with nuance and care.

Together, we’ll co-create a brave and collaborative space to explore the complexities of identity, grief, joy, anxiety, and transformation. It’s an honour to walk alongside you as you reclaim your inner wisdom and move toward healing, clarity, and connection.

How I Approach Therapy

Welcome! My therapy approach is rooted in the principles of Filipinx Liberation Psychology and Relational Cultural Theory, which help guide my work in a meaningful and intentional way.

Incorporating Filipinx Liberation Psychology into my approach means embracing the concept of Kapwa, which signifies “shared self” or “shared identity.” This Filipino value highlights our interconnectedness and emphasizes empathy, mutual respect, and relational understanding.

Combined with Relational Cultural Theory, which focuses on the importance of authentic and supportive relationships in personal growth, this approach creates a therapeutic environment that honors both your individual experiences and your cultural context. By integrating Kapwa and Relational Cultural Theory, I aim to nurture a deep sense of connection and community, helping you explore how cultural and relational factors shape your well-being while fostering a collaborative and empathetic therapeutic relationship.

My background in midwifery also plays a significant role in my approach. The skills I developed through midwifery—such as deep listening, being attuned to both physical and emotional needs, and supporting people through significant life transitions—enhance my ability to provide thoughtful and compassionate care. This experience helps me support you through your own perinatal journey.

In our work together, I use a variety of therapeutic techniques to best support your needs. Narrative Therapy helps us explore and reframe your personal stories, allowing you to see your experiences from new perspectives. Somatic Therapy focuses on the connection between your body and mind, helping you become more aware of how physical sensations and emotions are linked. Polyvagal Theory offers insights into how your nervous system affects your emotional state, providing tools to manage stress and feel more grounded. Additionally, Internal Family Systems (IFS) helps us understand and harmonize the different parts of yourself, fostering inner balance and healing. By integrating these approaches, we can work together to address your concerns in a comprehensive and personalized way.

I also incorporate Filipinx storytelling traditions to enhance our work together. Storytelling is a cherished practice in Filipinx culture, offering a reflective way to share and explore experiences. By engaging in reflective narratives, we’ll uncover insights and draw strength from your personal and cultural stories. This approach fosters a culturally affirming environment, honoring your heritage and supporting your healing journey with themes of resilience and community.

Together, these approaches create a personalized and supportive therapy experience. I’m here to guide you towards greater self-awareness, resilience, and empowerment in a way that feels authentic and tailored to you.

grateful for the stolen land that i live and practice on

As a guest on this land, I acknowledge that Toronto is situated on the traditional territories of the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, and Wendat peoples. This land has been stewarded and cherished by Indigenous communities for generations. As a Filipinx, I recognize the parallels between my own heritage and the histories of Indigenous peoples. I understand that this land was stolen and that injustices continue to affect these communities. In my practice and presence here, I am committed to respecting Indigenous sovereignty and supporting efforts toward reconciliation and justice.
